Syracuse Welcome 2015 Parent and Family Orientation

August 27-28, 2015

The Office of First Year and Transfer Programs (FYTP) is your host for Syracuse Welcome, Syracuse University's orientation program for new students.
If you plan to make the journey to campus with your student, please consider attending the Parents Office Welcome  on Thursday, August 27 at 11 a.m., followed by information sessions, the New Student Convocation and Barbecue, and school and college programs that run through 12 Noon on Friday, August 28.  At that time, we encourage you to leave campus so your son or daughter may focus on their academic orientation. Preparing for August

New Student Health Insurance Requirement

Deadline for Filing is August 31, 2015.
All incoming, newly-matriculating full-time students and all full-time matriculated international students are subject to the insurance requirement.
You may waive enrollment in the Aetna Student Health Insurance Plan offered by the University if you already have insurance provided by a U.S.-based insurer that meets the minimum standards of the ACA and provides coverage for services received in the Syracuse area.  Complete the waiver form online before the deadline of August 31.  If you do nothing or if your other coverage is not comparable, your student will be enrolled in the Aetna Student Health Insurance Plan and a charge will appear on your bill.

We strongly encourage you and your student to download the mobile app to enhance your experience before and during Syracuse Welcome 2015.  You'll be able to plan your days with a personalized schedule, create a personalized to-do list, browse campus maps, and receive important reminders about your arrival at Syracuse University.

To help ensure a healthy, productive, respectful environment in which to work, learn and live, Syracuse University is pleased to provide a smoke-free and tobacco-free campus, effective July 1, 2015.
