Alcohol Safety (video coming soon)

Join our Health Promotion Specialist for a conversation on how to talk to your student about alcohol and its impact on the college experience. Parents will leave this session with tangible talking points and why it is important for your student’s academic success, health and social life to Be Wise about the choices they make regarding alcohol and their time at SU.

Registration not necessary. This session is open to all new and returning families.

Join Vice Chancellor for Strategic Initiatives and Innovation

and Interim Deputy Senior Vice President for Enrollment and the Student Experience Amanda Nicholson for a session centered on the University’s path forward to Fall 2020 opening. The session will include information on the efforts implemented to protect the health and safety of all members of our campus community, as well as ways to prepare for the Fall 2020 semester. There will also be time for Q&A.

Belonging, Loneliness, and Homesickness (video coming soon)

Join our health promotion specialist in a presentation about homesickness, loneliness, and belonging. Learn about how these issues impact student wellness and academic success, tips for talking to your student about these issues, and the campus resources available to support them.

SU Libraries: your student’s secret weapon for SUccess (video coming soon)

Did you know that students who use the Syracuse University Libraries are more likely to remain at SU and experience increased success in learning? Join David Seaman, Dean of Libraries and University Librarian, and library staff from various student success services. Find out how the Libraries can help your student through our services (including tutoring, undergraduate research, and student entrepreneurship), collections, helpful experts, equipment loans, and study spaces. SU libraries are at the heart of the campus, and are innovative, welcoming, collaborative, and of service to all.

Student Employment 101 (video coming soon)

Is your student planning to work while attending college? Join Camille Donabella and Emily Zipprich for this informative session to discuss searching for a job, understanding Federal Work-Study, and learning about our new experiential learning initiative called “CuseWorks.” A panel of on-campus employers will also be available to answer many of your questions about working in their areas.

Healthy Relationships and Consent (video coming soon)

Warning: This conversation will include information about stalking, sexual and relationship violence. This topic can be difficult to discuss.

Join our health promotion specialist in a presentation about how to talk with your student about healthy relationships, setting boundaries and consent. Learn about how relationship violence, sexual violence and stalking can impact academic and social success, tips for talking to your student about these issues, and the campus resources available to support them and their peers.

 

Greek Life 101 for Parents and Families (video coming soon)

Join the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs and some of our Greek student leaders for a discussion about Greek life at Syracuse University.

Recreational Drug Safety (video coming soon)

Join our Health Promotion Specialist for a conversation on how to talk to your student about common misconceptions about Marijuana, and other recreational drug use among college students. Participants in this session will gain information on past and present drug differences/potencies and gain tips and strategies on how to talk to their student surrounding expectations, interactions and possible impact on academics that may occur as a result of trying recreational drugs while at college. Attend this session and help empower your student to Be Wise about the choices they make regarding recreational drugs.

Join the leadership of the Barnes Center at The Arch in a presentation about programs and services available to support your student’s health and wellbeing in Fall 2020.
