The Student Association usually runs roundtrip charter bus service to a handful of major metropolitan areas (e.g., New York, New Jersey, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, DC) at Thanksgiving Break and Spring Break.  Remind your student to look for information on social media.  Once tickets are available for purchase, information will be posted on our Home Page. 


The airport serving the Syracuse metropolitan area is Syracuse Hancock International Airport. Call individual airlines for flight information. There is no general airport shuttle service that goes directly to and from the airport (though many hotels have shuttles). Students who need to reach the airport can do so by calling a taxi service. Occasionally, the Student Association will arrange free shuttle service from the airport at high-volume travel times. For return trips to campus, there is a taxi service that leaves the airport.


Central New York is served by Centro bus lines. Many Centro buses travel through the Syracuse University on a regular basis and travel to destinations such as the the Regional Transportation Center, Destiny USA shopping mall, and other locations frequented by SU students--including downtown Syracuse (a transfer point). Centro also runs campus bus routes and shuttle services for athletic and special events at the Carrier Dome.

Centro has some useful tools available for students and visitors--a Bus Tracker and a Trip Planner. The Bus Tracker allows for real time tracking of each bus route and provides an estimated time of arrival at specific bus stops.  The Trip Planner allowers users to enter their location and destination, date and time, and provides itineraries based on that information.



The William F. Walsh Regional Transportation Center (RTC) houses both the train and bus station.   Amtrak, Greyhound, Trailways, and Megabus have services from Syracuse.  Centro public buses run from campus to the Regional Transportation Center on a regular basis.

Note: Students traveling to downstate New York and some areas of Northern New Jersey and Philadelphia, PA should consider transfers from Greyhound/Trailways to Coach USA/Shortline buses at the Greater Binghamton Transportation Center to shorten their journey.  See Coach USA/Shortline website or call 1-800-631-8405 for more details.
