Family Weekend 2019 FAQs

What is Family Weekend?

Visiting campus on Family Weekend allows you to see your student in their college environment, meet their friends, and engage with other Syracuse University families. It is your opportunity to sample the student experience, traditions, and spirit of Syracuse University. In addition, you will have an opportunity to learn more about the local community.

When can I register for Family Weekend?

Registration for Family weekend is live. Use the link on our website to register online.

How do I purchase football tickets?

Parent and Family Services has a group of over 1,444 third level seats available via the Family Weekend registration process.  The tickets are available for $25 per ticket (a $10 discount). Limit six tickets per family.

Seats will be assigned on a first-come, first served basis and will be available for pick-up at the Family Weekend Welcome and Registration Center on October 18.

Do I need to purchase a football ticket for my student?

Students who have a Season Pass already have a ticket for the student section for the Family Weekend football game. Having a full and vibrant student section to is important as we cheer the Orange on to victory. Please talk with your student before purchasing a ticket for them to sit with you.

If your student does not have a season pass, please add them to your Family Weekend registration ticket order.

Why is there a $40 per family registration fee? What is this for?

Family Weekend is a self-supporting program. The $40 per family registration fee funds the Family Weekend program and supports initiatives of Parent and Family Services.

What if I don't register ahead of time?

Some events have limited capacity or require tickets so early registration is recommended. You may register on site on October 18 and 19, but some events may be sold out at that time.  Online registration will be open until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, September 20.

How do I request accommodations for Family Weekend?

If you or one of your guests is an individual with a disability and you require accommodations, please indicate this on the registration form. Our staff will contact you to make the necessary arrangements.

Please note that there will be accessible Family Weekend shuttles available from the Skytop Lot on South Campus.

Where can I park?

Due to the football game on Friday, October 18 you must park in the Skytop Lot on South Campus.

Complimentary shuttle services will be provided between 8:30 a.m. and 11 p.m. from the Skytop Lot (South Campus) to North Campus and back. Saturday and Sunday, you may park in orange sign lots (non-restricted) on North or South Campus as space is available. No parking pass is required.

How do I know that you received my registration?

At the end of the completed registration process, you will see a transaction approval screen. In addition, a receipt will be e-mailed to you.

Can I cancel my registration?

To cancel your registration and request a refund, please notify us via email at by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, September 20. Please write "Family Weekend Cancellation" in the subject line of your e-mail.

No refunds will be issued after that time.

Do I need to check in when I get to campus?

Yes. All families must check in at the Family Weekend Registration and Welcome Center. This is where you will pick-up football tickets, Syracuse Stage tickets, souvenirs, etc.

The Family Weekend Registration and Welcome Center will be located on the lower floor of the Goldstein Alumni and Faculty Center (on the Einhorn Family Walk between Bird Library and Watson Hall). Hours will be:

Friday, October 18          9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Saturday, October 19      9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Which dining centers can we use?

There are six residential dining centers on campus: Brockway, Ernie Davis, Goldstein, Graham, Sadler, and Shaw. Reservations are not necessary. 

Dining centers offer an all-you-care-to-eat, buffet-style atmosphere with a variety of menu choices. Special Family Weekend pricing will be available. 

Brunch $7.00, Under 5 free

Dinner $10.00, $7.00 children age 5-12, under 5 free.


Please note that students may use Guest Meals (part of their meal plan) on Family Weekend.
